Lost MemoryAbove an empty football field a five year old black haired little girl named Kurosaki Karin sat on a grassy hill with a sidewalk and railing behind her, holding her legs against her, her face in her knees, crying her eyes out.

Until about a quarter hour ago, she had been in the field below trying to kick a football around the field. But her little legs just couldn’t handle the new activity and she constantly fell.

She had seen the bigger kids kick around the same kind of ball in a field like this and it looked like so much fun, but she couldn’t understand why she couldn’t do it like they did.

Her face, a mix of fears, surprise, and a bit fascinated. Why she was fascinated, that I’ll never know, because now she’s gone… forever.

Ever since Karin’s hair was long enough, she’d started pulling it back behind her head in a high ponytail. She told her friends it was to keep her hair out of the way while they played Soccer, which was only half-true.

The real reason was because of her mother. Or rather, a picture of her mother she’d found lying in the hall beside her father’s room. Isshin had dropped the picture while “spring cleaning” the room, and Karin had taken advantage of the moment and hid it in her back pant pocket until she could hide it in the desk drawer of her room.

"Is he poisonous?"
That was the question which had elicited his outrage. Was he poisonous? How on earth had she even thought of that?! So he'd spluttered a bit, gone red in the face and drawn several rattling breaths, trying in vain to stop himself from snapping at her. Of course, it didn't help when she started scrutinising it with a kind of clinical interest. Toushirou fought the urge to snatch it away.
